Courtney Dunn
M.A., LPC, Yoga Therapist
I believe healing happens when we feel safe enough to reconnect with ourselves — mind, body, and soul. My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and deeply individualized, honoring each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and path toward healing.
My own personal journey through recovery from a childhood eating disorder led me to the counseling field and continues to inspire the work I do today. Through both therapy and yoga, I discovered the profound importance of the mind-body connection in creating lasting healing and self-understanding. That experience shaped my passion for helping others find greater balance, self-acceptance, and inner peace.
I earned my Master’s in Counseling from St. Edward’s University in 2012 and began practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2014.
Over the past decade, I have worked with adolescents and adults in community mental health, residential treatment, and private practice settings throughout Texas.
Early in my career, I completed internship and supervised clinical hours at Plumeria Counseling Center in Austin and in private practice settings. I also volunteered for three years at Austin State Hospital, where I provided individual counseling and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills groups for individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges. In addition, I worked with adolescent girls through Communities In Schools at Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, offering individual counseling and leading DBT skills groups focused on emotional resilience and coping skills.
My passion for holistic healing deepened after beginning my own yoga journey and experiencing firsthand the transformative effects of reconnecting the mind and body. This led me to study yoga therapy at the Ghosh Yoga College in India in 2017, where I trained in creating individualized yoga prescriptions using breathwork, movement, and meditation practices tailored to emotional and physical wellness.
In 2016-2018, I also volunteered and taught with Pure Action - Yoga is Medicine, bringing trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness practices to teens and women in recovery settings.
Through this work, I have taught yoga in residential and outpatient treatment programs, including Phoenix House, Austin Recovery, and Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, supporting individuals navigating recovery, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions.
Today, the majority of my work focuses on young adults and women struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, reproductive health concerns, self-worth, and feelings of overwhelm or disconnection. My therapeutic style is eclectic, somatic, and holistic. I integrate traditional talk therapy approaches with mindfulness-based practices to support nervous system regulation and emotional healing.
I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, meditation, and yoga therapy. For clients interested in a more integrative experience, I may incorporate yoga therapy, meditation, sound healing, and other mindfulness practices into sessions to help strengthen the mind-body connection and cultivate resilience. My goal is to help clients move beyond simply “coping” and toward feeling grounded, empowered, and connected to their authentic selves.
I view therapy as a collaborative journey rather than a process of “fixing” what is wrong. Together, we work to uncover the inner wisdom, strengths, and clarity that already exist within you.
My hope is to create a space where you feel supported in slowing down, reconnecting with yourself, and building a life that feels more aligned, peaceful, and meaningful.
I welcome individuals seeking a compassionate space to heal, grow, and rediscover their inner compass.
